A competition was organised to evaluate the police organisations in different cities, and forces from many cities were invited to participate. The process of identifying the best police force was undertaken and five forces were shortlisted:
  • The New York Police,
  • Scotland Police,
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police,
  • The Melbourne Police and
  • The Delhi Police (yes, our very own Delli Police.)


The race for the world’s best police force was on. For the play-off, the judges decided that the tiger would be set free in the nearby forest, and the team that caught the animal in the shortest time would be adjudged the best police force in the world.


The NYPD went first ……….. Caught the tiger in 30 minutes ….Nothing to it !
Next, the Melbourne Police went and returned in 20 minutes with the tiger.
The Canadian Mounties followed and caught the tiger in 15 minutes.
Scotland Yard had the cat in the cage in 10 minutes flat.


Last but not the least, came the turn of apna Delhi Police. They seemed the favourites as the tiger is native to India. The big cat was set free, and three jats took off after it in a Maruti Gypsy.


All eyes were on the clock, in anticipation that the jawans of Delhi police would catch the tiger in record time.
The minutes went by, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50……… soon it was an hour, and the crack force of Delhi Police was not back!
Three hours later, the judges decided to go in and take a look. After a brief search they arrived at a clearing in the jungle. This is what they saw:


A bear tried to a tree trunk, was being brutally beaten (the famous lathi) by the three men. The shouting could be heard over the cries of the animal, ‘ Bol! Tu Sher hai !!!’ (Confess that you are a tiger). . .. . . .   . Confess that you are a tiger


CURSE WORSE THAN THE DISEASE



The Supreme Court has sorted out Delhi’s pollution problem. Busses must use CNG—all other fuels are banned.’

This order created chaos, the public went through hell. The capital’s air was cleaner, but it was left with plenty of woes.

Commuters were cursing: ‘Oh, why can’t we do what Mumbai’s doing?’ And what is Mumbai doing? Mounting one bus on another and cutting pollution in half.
